We've moved into the new Clubhouse.  All former Clubhouse meetings are going to be held at the
new location, 1660 W. College Ave, as far as we know.  The first meeting is the Sunday Came to
Believe at 10am, 12-29-02.
The flyer is out on the new Clubhouse.  All former Clubhouse meetings are going to be held at
the new location according to the flyer.  If this changes, we'll let you know.   There will be a
moving day on Saturday, Dec. 28 to move the old clubhouse items to the new clubhouse at 1660
W. College Ave.  If you'd like to help, be at the old clubhouse at 9am.
We are also trying to track down representatives from all meetings at the clubhouse to see if they
are moving their meetings to the new location.  The first meeting at the new building will
probably be the Sunday Morning Came to Believe on Dec 29.  Stay tuned for updates.
As you may have heard, our landlord has announced plans to
convert the current Rule 62 Clubhouse into commercial office by
the end of the year. We are working hard to make the transition
to a new location as smooth as possible. As such, we want you to
know the following:

· Our landlord has offered us another property located on West
present Clubhouse, we believe that property has adequate space
for the groups that currently meet in Rule 62. It also has certain
other advantages such as ample parking.· In addition to
considering that property, we are using this opportunity to Rule
62 Clubhouse, we will be looking at factors such as: price, space
size, parking and central location. We expect to have a decision
announced by the beginning of December. As soon as we have
made our decision, we will post further information here as well as
through the groups.In Appreciation,

New Night & Time:
The Mingoville Meeting has started up again on a new night and at a new
time -- Monday's at 8pm at the Nittany Valley Alliance Church.
We have decided to increase our presence in local phone books due to recent layout changes
creating some confusion. For instance, the the latest Bellefonte-State College version is split into
'Residence' white pages and 'Business-Professional-Organizational' white pages.  If you look in the
latter under Alcohol, you'll notice many confusing headings of which we are last. Callers to our
hotline have reported they had a hard time figuring out which was our number.  Upon calling a
number listed before
Alcoholics Anonymous, they were given a meeting location in Erie, PA.  (AA
has no treatment centers), we decided to make it clearer.  Though this cost more money than (AA

July Medallion Night Rescheduled:
Due to the Arts Festival, Medallion Night has been rescheduled to Friday, July 20th at 8pm. St.
Andrews Epicopal.
Mingoville and Spring Mills Meetings:
Both of these new meetings have folded.  However, the District Meeting in July will be held at the
Nittany Valley Alliance Church in Mingoville as scheduled.
Soft-Covered Big Books Needed:
At the end of 2000, District 43's Treatment and Correctional Facility Committee began supporting
the Clinton County Prison meetings. This tripled the number of inmates we try to provide
soft-covered Big Books to.  The District approved doubling the TCFC budget, but we need your
group's help to make up the deficit.  If you could send your GSR to a future District meeting with
a soft-covered Big Book or two, it would be greatly appreciated.  Just think, by reading this and
taking the initiative,
you may make the difference in someone's life whose drinking put them
behind bars.  If interested, make sure it's the soft-covered version -- the official GSO order item
number & description:
B-30      Alcoholics Anonymous - Portable
Old Grapevines would also be appreciated!
District 43 Service Workshop:
District 43 will be presenting a Service Workshop on Sunday, July 15, at the Mount Nittany
Middle School from 10am to 4pm.  Local speakers will give presentations in the morning
followed by Area 59 officers presenting in the afternoon.  The final hour of the workshop will be an
AA meeting (from 3-4pm).  For more info., email us at district43@yahoo.com
Group Histories:
Does your group have a written group history?  Why not share it with everyone by having it
posted on the website?  What a wonderful way to remember what happened, what it was like, and
what it is like today!  Talk it over with your group and if approved, send it to
district43@yahoo.com

Likewise, if your group has a special event or announcement you'd like others to know about, send
it in for posting!
Treatment & Correctional Facilities Update:
We take meetings into the following facilities on a weekly basis:
- Centre County Prison
- Clinton County Prison (two meetings per week)
- Meadows Psychiatric Facility (two meetings per week)
- Quehanna Boot Camp
- We hope to begin supporting Rockview meetings soon.
We could use your help if you are interested.  No need to be a GSR.  Just let us know you are
interested in doing service in these facilities and we'll accommodate your schedule.  Send us an
email if you are interested, or come to our
next meeting on April 17th.
Laurel Highlands (Johnstown) Meetings List:
We've just found a site with Johnstown area meetings.  The site is
www.johnstownpa/support/aa.html and a pdf file of their meeting list can be found here.
Area 59 Seeking Group Histories:
Area 59 (Eastern PA) is seeking group histories.  If you have a group history which you would
like to submit (form), please let your GSR know or contact us for details at

Beware of Hotline Con Artist!
It seems that a few members have been "conned" by the same man, several months apart.  He calls
the District Hotline (or a number from the Eastern Directory) and reports that he burned his hand
on his way back from Akron, Ohio.  His "burns" were the result of removing his over-heating car's
radiator cap.  He also reports that he has 40 years sobriety and was the subject of one of the stories
in the Big Book.  He is
very convincing (even has a professionally-wrapped bandage) and, of
course, needs money.  He promises to send it back when he gets home.  He won't.  If you get a
call from this fellow, beware.  For more information, email us at distirct43@yahoo.com

We've added a list of Altoona Area Meetings for folks traveling to the Altoona area or just looking
for a new meeting. Check 'em out!
New Meeting!
The name of the meeting is A.A. for Gays and Lesbians. This is just a "meeting" and not a
"group".  It will operate as part of the Gratitude Group in terms of officers, donations, etc.  Please
note that this is an open meeting and anyone is welcome to attend.  Please pass the word along
and encourage anyone you feel might benefit from this to attend.

Looking to insure
immunity from
drinking? Then work
intensively with other
alcoholics (Big Book
pg.89).
Last summer the Treatment and Correctional Facilities Committee
began encouraging participation from any AA member in District
43 to help bring meetings into Centre and Clinton County's
treatment and correctional facilities. This is still the case and all
members are very welcome. In addition, now we are encouraging
conference-approved pamphlet,
The AA Group, pg. 24, 31-2.
Our district has one committee which covers correctional
and
treatment facilities.  Other districts have two separate committees,
hence the literature identifies two separate positions where we're
only seeking one. According to
The AA Group pamphlet, "Group
correctional facilities representatives take part in local district
committee meetings.  They keep their home groups informed
about local Twelfth-Step activities in nearby institutions and
encourage group members to participate.  Representatives take
A.A. meetings into prisons and jails to help alcoholic inmates
correspondents and as A.A. contacts when the inmates are freed
(pg.31)."  They also, "...work to further understanding of A.A. by
hospital and treatment center staffs, and to take the A.A. tools of
recovery to alcoholics in treatment (pg. 32)." The TCFC service
person is not necessarily a General Service Representative, as
they are often busy with other matters.  Responsibilities would
likely include one service commitment per month at a facility such
as the Meadows, Centre County Prison or Clinton County
Prison. The TCFC currently manages six TCFC commitments a
week (and demand is growing). If you are interested then please
send us an email or let your GSR know that you would like to
help.  You may also just show up at our monthly committee
meeting held at the Meadows every third Tuesday of the month at
7:15pm.
