AA D43: PRISONS & INSTITUTIONS
Volunteer Opportunities!
1.) Centre County Prison: Monday 6:30-7:30pm meetings. Separate men & women’s.
Closed meeting, 1 year clean‐time required, you must submit an Application for Volunteer
Service to the prison.
Then call to check if you are approved to be a volunteer (a week or 2). You need a photo
id & your keys only. You can bring in a big book or step book to use at the meeting.
Members attending the meeting meet about 6:20 in the lobby. Sign in at the desk and you
will be given a visitor’s badge.
2.) Clinton County Prison: Thursday 7-8:00pm meetings (Please note: meeting time
subject to change). Separate men & women’s meetings. Closed meeting, 2 years clean‐
time required.
When your application is approved, you will be contacted by the Clinton Co. Facility to
schedule an orientation appointment or you can call to check. (a week or 2). You need your
badge that they issue at orientation and your keys only. You can bring in a big book or step
book to use at the meeting. Members attending the meeting meet about 5:50 in the lobby.
Sign in at desk and then go back together.
3.) The Meadows Psychiatric Center: Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm meeting. Closed Meeting,
3 Months Sobriety Required. The Meadows is between Centre Hall and Boalsburg on Rt. 45.

4.) Youth Detention Center: Mondays 6:30-7:30pm meeting. Located on the Benner Pike
across from the new Centre County jail on road that leads to Fisherman’s Paradise. 148
Paradise Road Bellefonte, PA 16823 814‐355‐0650. Open topic discussion meeting, 3
months sobriety required. Topic discussion. Members meet outside in parking lot at 6:15
and enter together. Only 7 volunteers allowed attendance per meeting. You need to bring in
your photo id for the first time (they copy it and make a form for you that you sign in on each
time). Only car keys allowed in. Sign in upon entrance.
5.) Rockview State Prison: Meeting held every 4th Wednesday of the month – 5:00pm 1
Rockview Place Bellefonte, PA 16823 814‐355‐4874 (on Rt 64 from mall in State College
towards Bellefonte). You must submit a Centralized Clearance Check Information Request
(Section A only) and Public Visitor Memo of Understanding form.

It will take a month or 2 for approval. 1 Year sobriety suggested, not on parole, do not know
any inmates personally on the inside. You will be notified about your clearance‐you’ll get
state id & gate pass. Report at the Main Gate by 5pm – have state‐issued photo ID, get
buzzed in. Pass through the metal detector, sign in, submit car keys and photo ID to the
front window, receive a visitor's pass. When all visitors are there, we are escorted over to
the Education Building, where we re‐set the classroom chairs into a circle. Inmates arrive.
The inmates host the meeting; we're just outside visitors. They have a regular meeting
format, which includes the AA preamble, etc. The chair either solicits or selects a topic, and
it's open sharing until 6:15.
